Lyrics

A song's lyrics come from the first of these that has them, timed to the music where they can be:

  1. A .lrc file beside the song, with the same name (Song.lrc next to Song.flac), as Lidarr's lyric plugins and lrcget write them.
  2. The song's tags (ID3 USLT, Vorbis LYRICS or UNSYNCEDLYRICS, MP4 ©lyr), as Picard and Mp3tag write them; timed if they're written as LRC.
  3. LRCLIB, free and keyless, matched by artist, title, album and length (the closest in length when there's no exact match). Its answer, found or not, is kept, so each song is asked about once; one it didn't have is asked again after 30 days, and an admin can ask again now. Sent: the artist, title, album and length. Switched off with LYRICS_ONLINE_LOOKUP=false (or Settings → Server), and by Disable online metadata retrieval.

The first two are read from the file each time, so a .lrc added later is used at once.

In the app, Lyrics in the player bar (and in Now Playing, on phones) opens them beside the page, which stays usable. Timed lyrics follow the music: the line being sung lights up and stays in the middle, and clicking a line plays from there; scrolling by hand stops the following for a few seconds. Lyrics are only asked for while the panel is open, so playing music doesn't send every song to LRCLIB.
